We extensively tested 14 electric toothbrushes and declare the Oral-B Pro 2000 to be our Best Choice. It performs well for its reasonable price, comes with all the necessary functions and efficiently removes plaque and bacterial build-up. Our recommended toothbrush in the premium category is the Oral-B Genius 9000.
The difference between them is the brush head which comes in the box (eg. CrossAction 1000 will have a CrossAction toothbrush head), and the color of the toothbrush handle. These models oscillate at 8,800 movements per minute and 20,000 pulsations per minute.
The biggest differences are going to be if you have sensitive teeth and gums where the added modes of the 3000 become desirable. In the box with both brushes comes a single brush head. The Pro 1000 comes with the CrossAction style brush head whilst the Pro 3000 comes with the 3D White brush head.
As the article above has highlighted, the fundamental difference between the Pro 2 2000 and the Pro 2 2500 is the inclusion of the travel case with the 2500 . However, to complicate things further there is also a Pro 2 2900 within the Oral – B range. You may have come across it or been offered it as an option for you.
Despite claiming Sonicare win this category, Oral – B tends to offer more features on cheaper brush handles. Most Sonicare brushes have 1-2 cleaning modes unless you go up to the most premium model which offers 3-5; whereas Oral – B has 1-4 modes until the most premium models that offer 5-6 modes.
Generally, soft-bristled, round-tipped toothbrushes are easiest and safest. Medium and hard-bristled brushes, if used incorrectly or too vigorously damage gums, root surfaces, and tooth enamel. Recommendations : Dentists recommend products that have passed rigorous quality control tests.
For the most part, though, the dentists we spoke with still recommend classics like Philips Sonicare and Oral-B because of the years of scientific research behind them. That’s not to say the shiny new toothbrush you bought from an Instagram ad won’t clean your teeth.
The Oral-B Pro 1000 has the most important features for the lowest price: a two-minute timer, an easy brushing process, and compatibility with the largest range of brush heads.
The Smart 4 4000 has 3 cleaning modes (Daily Clean, Sensitive & Whitening) compared to the 2 modes (Daily Clean & Sensitive) of the Pro 2 2000 . The Smart 4 4000 has Bluetooth connectivity. The Smart 4 comes with 2 brush heads compared to the 1 with the Pro 2.
The Pro 8000 is a superb electric toothbrush. It cleans the teeth very well. The smartphone app and position detecting technology is very clever but can feel like a bit of a hassle to use properly. The brush offers a lot more than you need, but many features that encourage you to take better care of your oral health.
Depending on which model you have, your Oral – B electric toothbrush should take between 14 and 22 hours to fully charge the brush, and should last for between 5 and 12 days of brushes (when brushing twice a day, for 2 minutes each time).
The Pro 2 2500 comes with either a single CrossAction or single 3D White brush head. Whereas the 3 3000 comes with 1 of each included in the box, or it comes with 1 x CrossAction and 1 x Sensi UltraThin. This means you get a little extra value in the Pro 3 3000 as an extra brush head is included.
Key Differences The Smart 4 4000 comes with 1 additional cleaning modes over the Pro 3000 (Daily Clean, Sensitive and Whitening compared to the 3000’s Daily Clean and Sensitive). The Smart 4 4000 comes with 2 x CrossAction brush heads included compared to the 1 x CrossAction and 1 x 3D White provided with the 3000 .
Our Verdict. The Oral – B Pro 2000 is a very capable electric toothbrush and there is little I can really complain about. The biggest criticism is really the battery life, it would be better if it was longer. As good as the Pro 2000 is, for most, the Oral – B Pro 1000 or more premium 3000 are better buys.
The electric toothbrushes feature a round brush head, which company says helps in cleaning hard-to-reach areas in mouth . While PRO 600 comes with a single Daily Clean mode, the PRO 2000 , the more feature-rich and expensive toothbrush out of the two, comes with Daily Clean and Gum Care modes.
