The school offers a four-year, eight-semester, two-summer-term curriculum leading to the doctor of dental surgery (D.D.S.) degree. This curriculum is designed to prepare graduates in dentistry to deliver patient care with a scientific basis and a caring manner.

There are three basic requirements for becoming a dentist : Doctorate (DDS or DMD) from an accredited dental school. Licensure, consisting of both a written and clinical exam. Specialty licensure and further education and/or completion of a residency (for specialists)
Dental school typically lasts four years , although an accelerated degree may take only three years to finish. A dental graduate program usually involves science coursework and a clinical curriculum.

UMKC admissions is selective with an acceptance rate of 56%. Students that get into UMKC have an average SAT score between 980-1330 or an average ACT score of 21-28. The regular admissions application deadline for UMKC is June 15.
The minimum ACT score is a 24, but the average for admitted students is a 32. The minimum SAT score is 1160, but the average score for an admitted student is 1420.
Students interested in applying to UMKC have several options: Automatic admission. The following courses represent the 17 core requirements: 4 units of English. 4 units of Mathematics (Algebra I or higher) 3 units of Science. 3 units of Social Studies . 2 units of a single Foreign Language . 1 unit of Fine Arts.
Therefore, UMKC has a test – optional admission process. Under the UMKC test – optional admission process, applicants with a 2.75 or higher University of Missouri System (UM) high school core GPA may be admitted to UMKC without submitting an ACT or SAT score.
