DDS/ PhD combined training is available for students committed to an academic or research career in dentistry and dental research. This program is a minimum of 8 years, combining the DDS curriculum with a PhD in Oral Health Sciences.
The DDS program requires 4 years of study. In general, the first two years emphasize preclinical courses including basic science and technical dental courses, analysis of dental literature, and ethics and management of practice. The remaining years are spent in clinical courses, working directly with patients.
